15 May 2013
We, organizers of and participants in the International Community Psychology Conference – Global Perspectives and Local Practices, held at Birzeit University (13-15 May 2013) hereby declare our support for the academic and cultural boycott of Israel. We uphold the principles and guidelines of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aim to apply pressure on Israel to comply with international law to achieve justice and freedom for the Palestinian people. We urge Arab and international academics around the world to support the struggle for justice through solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian people in the form of boycott of Israel and its academic institutions, all of which are deeply complicit in its violations of human rights and international law.
Note: the conference was attended by scholars and practitioners from Australia, Belgium, Mexico, Norway, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Scotland, South Africa, the UK, and Venezuela
