ISESCO urges Paris Book Fair boycott

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has called upon all its 50 member states to boycott the Paris Book Fair.

ISESCO issued a statement on Tuesday, urging all its members to immediately take appropriate measures to boycott the Paris Book Fair, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

According to ISESCO, Israel's atrocities, oppression, imposed starvation and siege against the Palestinian people make it unworthy of being welcomed as a Guest of Honor at the event in Paris.

The organization condemned the organizing committee's decision to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Zionist regime, proclaiming it as this year's Guest of Honor.

The move will certainly have negative repercussions on the cultural, political and human relations between France and the peoples of the Islamic world, ISESCO said.

The exhibition is due on 14-19 March 2008.§ionid=3510212
